First Day of School Activities.

The Wheels on the Bus song is a popular nursery rhyme and educational children’s song.

The Wheels on the Bus song teaches students parts of a bus (wheels, door, wipers, horn).

The Wheels on the Bus song is also a really fun children’s finger play for young learners.

It helps students build large motor skills, as the nursery rhyme uses a lot of movement.

It’s just great for circle time!

Snack Recipe

After the Wheels on the Bus song has finished, introduce a really fun food recipe to the class.

A Twinkie School Bus!

Kids will have a blast making a snack with the Wheels on the Bus theme.

So, what are you waiting for?

Let’s get started on the recipe!

Wheels on the Bus

Ingredients you will need:

  • 1 Twinkies
  • 1/8 cup Yellow frosting
  •  Knife (For frosting the bus, cutting the window squares and for carving out the front of the bus)
  • 4 Gummy Lifesavers
  • 1 Piece of black licorice

Cooking instructions:

Cut out one small rectangle for the hood and windshield from one end of the Twinkies.

Next, have the children spread yellow frosting on the Twinkies School Bus and add Gummy Lifesavers for the wheels.

Then, cut up the black licorice, so it can be used as windows for the Twinkies School Bus.  Once the pieces are cut, have the children place them at the front of the bus and along the sides.

And, voila, the children have now made a Twinkie School Bus!

We hope you’ll find a lot of ways to use the Wheels on the Bus song as a teaching tool at home or in the classroom with kids of all ages.
